Monsters among us.
Lisa Maria Zahra was just 15 years old when she was murdered by a monster.
After extending the victim’s family misery for 5 years, after wasting valuable police, prosecution and the law court resources, he pleads guilty just before he is about to trial by jury in a case he could never have won. This monster pleads guilty to murder punishable by up to life in prison, having defiled a minor, vulnerable person whilst abusing his position of power and authority as her teacher, and being in possession of child pornography.
Let’s not forget he was the teacher and she was a student, he was an adult and she was a child. Yet he found qualms in defiling her, in manipulating and using her, feeding her drugs and alcohol to further blur her judgement and encouraging her to commit suicide. This was no accident or one-off transgression, this was planned cold-blooded, murder of a vulnerable underage person.
He gets 20 years prison, which will probably mean that he will be out in a couple of years time after taking into consideration amnesties for good conduct, pope visits and general elections. In a couple of years time, he will be back out on the streets.
As a parent, father of two girls Lisa Marie’s age, this case is terrifying. I cannot even imagine the pain Lisa Marie’s father went through, to see his daughter who had so much potential, a flower still blossoming in her tender age be cut, trampled and destroyed by this sorry excuse of a human being.
May I ask what you have to do to get a higher prison sentence in Malta?
